Don't cut it. If you do it will grow worse and require nail abolition, unless it's bleeding you should soak it In a solution of bath salt, soap, and water. It will soften the nail.

Your foot is prone to infections. If he rips the nail out he will have two large open wounds on his foot, he might as well rub stuff on it. Besides, he could loose enough blood to pass out. Your nail goes deep into our foot, and most of your blood passes through your foot.

My friend stubbed his toe talking up my stairs and got an ingrown toenail. He had to have it removed at the hospital.

If one of my toenails gets bent a bit at the tip after I stub my toe I immediately trim the bent bit off.
