Author Topic: PC vs Mac - Support!  (Read 2081 times)

I am in a debate with my friend about Macs and PCs.  He thinks Macs are better, whilst I take the PC side for obvious reasons.

I need help.  Post any Anti-Mac argument that will help the cause.

Specifically, if you can find a PC with 96 GB of RAM and the ability to support 12 processors I would really appreciate it.  (He has a Mac with those specs and I need to find a PC that costs less with the same specs.)

Do not post anything negative without a supporting argument.  This is not anti Steve Jobs.  He was a great figure in the digital age, and he will be missed.

I call bullstuff.

I don't think it is that high either, but it is possible.  He is one rich dude.

96 gb of RAM is totally useless on any machine, PC or Mac. Past like...16, you don't even need anymore. As in, I don't believe it makes it that much faster.

I dunno.... Lol. I doubt that's possible.
Tell him to take a pic of the inside of his case.

I am getting clarification of his exact specs.  Unfortunately I won't be able to know until tomorrow

They are both the loving same, the only difference is the coding language they use.

Apple computers do music production better.
Windows computers do more games.
Apple computers do movie editing better.
Windows computers are easy to mod and customize.
Apple computers work efficiently to provide more power for less hardware.
Windows computers do accounting and database management better.

Get over yourself.

Wait, do you mean 12 processors or 12 cores?
Also, 96GB of RAM is really rare these days, if not impossible.
Most I've seen is 64GB on a domestic machine, but if he is running a 12 core, it's most likely a server PC or something.

It all depends on software, the right software can make a Mac do Pc things and vice versa. Efficiently too...

Apple computers do music production better. Yes.
Windows computers do more games.
Apple computers do movie editing better. Somewhat oranges and oranges, Sony Vegas and Adobe After Effects are great software packages.
Windows computers are easy to mod and customize.
Apple computers work efficiently to provide more power for less hardware. Nope. Also, the cost, specification wise of an Apple is over 2 times the equivalent hardware cost of a Windows for the exact same specs.
Windows computers do accounting and database management better.

Get over yourself.

96 GB of RAM?
Nope, impossible. If anything a 96 GB hard-drive, and there isn't a 12 core processor, maybe if it's an i7 hyperthreaded, still.

The software goes the other way too. I'm building a gaming of but I'm keeping my MacBook because it's better for schoolwork.

Didn't think of that.
It could also be dual Xeon server chips, or maybe a new Opteron 6200/6100 which has native 12? or 16? cores. Forget. There's both though.
