I love russia's history over the past century.
But I would never want to live there or anything like that.

It's actually a great place to live, very nice people. Just don't be such a streotypical friend and you will love it.

I like history, but what makes Russia so bright amongst other topics?

I see people literally worshiping its past, and these are regular people doing their regular business.  All of the sudden they become some sort of manipulated person that will stop at nothing to put back the Soviet Union.  I simply can't see people look up to Russia and its past.  I don't even know man, I'll read up on their history to see whats the big 'hype' about it.

Because people honestly need to broaden there minds and realize that the media isn't loving everything.

Russia isn't a country where everyone lives on the street and eats scraps that are leftover from Medvedev's dinner. The people there, like most Eurpoean countries, are a lot different and nicer then the people in the US. Living there isn't as bad as everyone thinks, everyone there isn't a poor drunk stuff or a rich corrupt friend.

We also aren't overly confident about our country and think that we are the best and every other country is stuff.

Socialism has been proven to not work many times, yet fools keep trying to re-use it.
For some reason, the newer generation see it as 'cool' or something. Sheep are they.

When I think of Russia, I think of the countless people who starved under a greedy dictatorship, not a utopia full of peace and wonder.

I was reading by favourite book series, CHERUB.
One of the books involved one of the heroes doing some mission in Russia.
His portayal of it was horrible and more or less saying they suck.
It then ended with them ranting how much he sucks american rooster.

The closest I am to Russian is belonging to an extreme Polish minority, but being iron curtain doesn't count.  It's unfortunate that most Americans speak out against Russia.  I loving hate it when my friends slam it.  Russia has one of the best cultural pasts in my opinion.

right now they're the industry whore of the planet. trying to take over their best customer would be the dumbest possible thing to ever do

I'd like to point out that 1)  America is a country of immigrants, so no, bad idea because it will cause reprocussions all over the world.

and 2)  If China DID take over America,which provides it with all the components for it's products, China would simply get part production for free.
