When I landed I didn't bother to talk to the crew chief. I almost didn't make it to my quarters without collapsing with grief.

I landed gracefully. I walked out, and collapsed in my quarters. I didn't know it was gonna be this tiring. I was working on adrenaline alone.

"Control tower, this is Uzi 1. Requesting permission to land."

"Uzi 1, you are cleared to land on Runway 11."

Conditions are nearly perfect, and I come in for a VFR landing. I taxi to my hangar, climb out of the roosterpit, and head to my quarters to wait for debriefing.

I stroll into the barracks. I see Lenta with his face buried in his pillow. I lay down on my bunk at the end of the room and fall asleep.

let's say i managed to make a kill in the mission
"Bullet 1, requesting permission to land."

"Bullet 1, this is Control, permission granted."
I lower the throttle and pull back on the stick, and I extend my airbrakes.
I land my F-4, the plane taxiing. I put on the landing gear brakes and hop out, heading to the barracks for debriefing.

I start screaming in my sleep from all of the flash backs, once I scream so loud I wake myself up. wet and shaking I head to the showers to rinse off.

I shake the screaming guy awake.
"What's wrong?"

After sleeping for about 5 hours and finally being woken up due to Lenta's screaming, I figured it was useless to try and get anymore rest and walked outside to the hangar where I parked the F-15E I flew several hours earlier.

I landed and went to my room. On the all the 118th TFW TV's throughout the airbase, this played...

(Watch to 0:44)

The TVs had a picture of the Captain again. "Tomorrow," he began, "At 1600 hours, the 118th will take off to Mt. Shezna to complete mission name, 'Northern Eye.'"

I don't remember anything about the battle or landing, I just remember bring in my room, wide awake, then suddenly falling asleep.

I just got a call from back home about important business. I'm gonna have to sit the next one out.
