"Render is a high-class prototype jet, designed to be lightweight, but pack a incredible punch. It's had a failed flight six times, and it breaks the soundbarrier, which was the cause of the six failed flights. Shinenzu nearly died several times during the test flight, and that's the reason he's blind in his right ey-" Vector spoke. Shinenzu facepalmed. "Damnit man."

"Well, now we know your blind spot."

"stuff." Vector said. "Just because I'm colorblind in one eye," He corrected, "Doesn't mean I can't fly."

"Colorblind eh? Gotta be confusing with all the different colors."

"Nope. Helps to have a special type of contact." He said.

In my room, I was steaming. "They can't do Mt. Shezna without me..."

It was 4:00.

Captain Davenport was on the TVs again. "118th, refuel and get up to Mt. Shezna now. Northern Eye begins now. Except for you, Blaze One. You are grounded until Northern Eye is complete."

I shuffle my feet some, feeling like an idiot standing there with a 12 gauge when the situation was obviously under control. "Well, I will be on my way now." I turn around and start walking towards the barracks, switching the safety back on. I put the USAS 12 back under my bed, and decide to fly a Tiger instead of a Eagle. I climbed into the Tiger, relieved to not have a backseater, and did all of the pre-flight checks. I got pushed back onto the taxiway, and started my engines. The turbojets roared to life, and I taxied. "This is Phoenix 5, request take-off for Operation Northern Eye."

"Roger. Good luck, Phoenix 5."

I throttled up, smiling as the jet screamed down the runway, and lifted in to the air. I pulled the landing gear up and started flying towards Mt. Shezna.

"Captain Davenport, I will be unable to take off. My aircraft is dead. I need a new aircraft."

"Vector, don't we have a working version of Render?" Shinenzu said. "Confirmed." Vector said. "It's inbound to your location. Landing in ETA 2 minutes." Shinenzu was told. "So, mate. How would you like to fly a working prototype of the fastest aircraft in the air." Shinenzu said to him.

Vegetarian, can you add a list of available aircraft?

"I'll go check with my CO. I'm not quite willing to go blind due to the prototype."

"He said, 'as long as it's a stable aircraft. I'm not willing to lose one of my pilots to a prototype.'"

I strolled past the captain. I shot a quick question at him. "When are we starting Operation Northern Eye?"
This was a chance to prove my worth. While I would not be in the fighting, I would observe AA movements and refuel the jets midair. This was my first week here, and I intended to make it a good one.

"It's safe, it's passed inspections, and had a successful test flight. Five guns, one for a passenger, four for the pilot." Shinenzu said, as the 3 yard long plane came in to a landing outside. "Render is outside, commands offline on my end." Vector said, as transmissions ended.

"That thing is tiny," I say, gesturing at the small aircraft, which had just appeared there. "Also, a successful flight. Not enough. I'll try it now, see how she handles."

"Woah! Did I even take off?"
