I just don't know the method of how to solve this and i dont really get what i'd type into google to learn it

You have to find out what x is equal to.

Can someone tell me how to figure out that style of question so i can do them all please? ^

Much obliged.

Finding variables is pretty much working backwards.

Don't you have to put a 1 under the whole numbers andd then go across or something?

So would it be 6-2 or 6-4 for the first one?

So would it be 6-2 or 6-4 for the first one?

yes

But in all honesty, I think it would be best to figure it out so you have complete knowledge firsthand on how to solve these equations.

Obtain a common denominator. For the first one, for instance:

x/4 + x/2 = 6

You want to multiply the second part, so it would be:

x/4 + 2x/4 = 6

and then add normally:

3x/4 = 6

Then multiply both sides by 4.

3x = 24

Then divide both sides by 3

x = 8

My sister says x = 8.

DANG YOU

@TheKhoz, was about to post almost the exact same thing, except 3 times 6 isn't 24.

Multiply by 4. Not multiply by 3. Divide by 3.

Isn't this 7th grade math? Your profile says you are 15.

#2
w/2 + 3/1 = (w + 1)/4

I want to find ALL common denominators, to make it easy.

2w/4 + 12/4 = (w + 1)/4

and then distribute the 4 to both sides:

4(2w/4 + 12/4) = 4[(w + 1)/4]

Which would then be:

2w + 12 = w + 1

Then get the variable on 1 side

w + 12 = 1

then isolate

w = -11

I'm in 7th grade :P

I'm in england we have different education systems.

Thankyou very much Khoz. :)

Thankyou very much Khoz. :)

But I'm in the US shouldn't my education system be inferior to yours?

pshh
i could do that and i'm 12
