PEMDAS is a ridiculously long process to find one answer.
disregard, i forgot that was necessary not having taken AlgebraII since 10th grade.

hell i had calc in 12th grade so all my maths are kinda screwy at the moment.

reset the poll so we can change our answers :c

it's ok

it's not like you're going to be doing this stuff for a real career

IT'S BEEN PROVEN: THE ANSWER IS 26. NOTHING OTHERWISE OR YOU'RE STUPID

Doing something wrong and being told it's wrong is how you learn to do it right.
But if you are set up to do something wrong for the purpose of someone to tell you that you are wrong it will most likely just lead you to feel shame and agony that the person you once held so dear to your heart deceived you and set you up for failure. You become withdrawn. Your boyfriend steals your stereo and breaks up with you as you are sent into an even deeper depression. You can no longer go on as you can no longer trust anyone. Your life falls apart. You get fired from work because you never leave your house. Your house slowly rots as no one is tending to it properly. And then you die, alone and cold, because someone set you up for failure just so they could laugh in your face how ignorant you are to truth. And of course, even if it is a lie, when you hear a lie enough, eventually you start to believe it. You have to believe it. Oh what a tangled web we weave. Oh what a tangled web... ;-;

...What were we talking about again? :o

You're not supposed to do it wrong though, which is what this calculation is all about.
It's like putting spikes on the road when someone is driving for the first time.
I have to agree with Nym, in all seriousness. I understand it is a joke of sorts, but at its heart it really is meant to be that. A joke; a trick. Setting someone up to fail usually just leads them to learn you can't be trusted. This is a matter of semantics, though.

No. I did the problem under a minute

No. I did the problem under a minute
depends on what you think is long

No. I did the problem under a minute
yes because i was applying PEMDAS to this problem and this problem only.
no.

PEMDAS in general for the more layered expressions takes to long, even with a calculator, to get a simple number.
taking 30 seconds for that is too long if you ask me.
however, other stuff like long division is an exception.

just throwing this out there, i really don't understand why public schools feel the need to cram this mathematical gibberish into our heads, knowing that half of it will never be used in real life situations.
not even bankers and accountants do this kind of stuff.

seriously what happened to just doing 2+2 or $5.89 + $20.45

I believe the time wasted is worth it to get a right answer

Yep. That's just about what happens.

Yep. That's just about what happens.
I've been similar situations. When we come up short, blame the Jew of the group

Stupid people dont know PEMDAS.

sad.

that image is lol.

but yeah, i never said you shouldn't use it when doing classwork.
i just think it's a waste of thought and time.

>purposely trick people
>when they answer wrong reply with HURR LOEL UR DUM WOW LOSE FAITH IN HUMANITY

congratulations you're an starfish!
