Well, for those of you who follow my car topics, this should come as no suprise.
Basically, yesterday an engine mount, one which I replaced a few months ago, broke again. Personally, I'm sick of this repair stuff. I bought the new part today and reinstalled it but that won't change the fact that another annoying repair is most likely right around the corner. I love my car, but its getting to the point were the vehicle is becoming to much of a burden to keep going. I keep blowing money on repairs and it just keeps breaking. So I figured its time to sell the car.
My car, with the broken item repaired, is currently in generally good condition. 75,000 miles, no dents or scratches, and everything works. I looked all this up on KBB and found the car is worth about $3,500.
So I'm pretty much stuck with three choices. Keep my car and endure any more expensive repairs. Look in various used cars which could possibly also cost quite a bit to upkeep. Or, I can go with what I personally feel is the most enticing option. My mom told me she would sell me her car and buy a new one. The car is a 2008 Ford Escape with 35,000. Its an SUV with a sunroof, plenty of passenger space, loads of features, and most importantly, never had a breakdown. It's a good car. My mom will charge $5,000 for it due to its near perfect condition. In fact, KBB says the car is currently worth $18,000.
An $18,000 for $5,000. Sounds like a great deal. But I'm still debating on what to do. To experiment I looked on cars.com for any used cars for 5 grand, they all had over 120,000 with will not work.
I'm asking for the opinions of various people so I figured I would ask the forum too.
Oh, here is my mom's car for a reference:
