Author Topic: The Computer Megathread  (Read 493897 times)

I posted it a while back, no biggie though. The guy fixes them for real cheap so, it should be all good. I'm glad you grid to help though, nobody I knew would :(.
I'd like to hear an update if it's possible though. Lots of stuff happens in this thread.

I'll give you the entire rundown.

Since I hadn't updated my drivers in a really long time one day I decided to while some stuff was installing. I also hoped a side-effect of this would be a minor performance boost. So I went ahead and downloaded the drivers (either old or wrong ones). What ended up happening was that higher demand games like GTA and Crysis were lagging so I came here for help. I followed the steps you provided which had a neutral effect. The drivers woudln't apply seemingly, since the resolution remained lower and the theme was stuck at windows 7 basic. I system restored and it was all good. I was okay with it until all of my games begun to lag. The odd thing is, it comes in spikes. The games will lag for a minute and return to normal for a minute and the cycle repeats. I scanned for malware even though it wasn't very likely. Everything else works perfectly though.

Here's dxdiag before the really bad things begun.

I'll try to give you any information you need to help if you want.

and on-the-go games, yeah.
Nothing like BF3, just low spec required games like L4D & L4D2.

Also ethan can I be on the list in op to help others?

When I try system restore it says the computer won't start.

Fixed that, lag problem exists still but I can finish my essay and stuff.

That would actually do alright at BF3 though.

Unless I'm missing something, I'd like to see just a bit more evidence of your worthiness, sorry.

I understand  i'm not really good with the computer part i'm good with pre-builts and os's so I understand.

Ethan you should consider sticking custom builds you made for people in the custom section with prices.

Also since you segmented all the computer recommendations in to prices, what price would be able to run Battlefield 3 at max settings?

What resolution?

Also, at least until the floods die down, I'd suggest swapping out all the hard drives in OP with this:

Unless you can afford the one in OP. But the price is just astronomical.
Of course, I'd still recommend recycling any old hard drives from your older computers if possible and if speedy enough. Or even finding a site that hasn't put prices up. Much.

Argh. Like one of these 500GB 7200RPMs from here for about $89:
