Korea, the Pacific Theater in WWII, Vietnam, all of these wars were attempts to create stable, self-sustaining beacons of the free world in otherwise oppressive recesses of the world. It worked with Japan, it worked with half of Korea, and if it'd work half as well in the Middle East the entire world would benefit from it.
