Backup whatever stuff you want/need and whatever you can bring back go ahead and reformat then reinstall windows and reinstall whatever you can bring back without a backup.

using the reformat CD will restore the computer to factory condition with all the features it had when you bought it.

you don't have to buy any software that came with the computer again.


Have you tried Spybot S&D? It has some registry protecting stuff in it.

I own nothing external wise except an 8GB USB drive

How big is the files that need to be backed up?
This might not work though. Best to try to find a botkill first.
If all else fails try to use the recovery although the virus might of cloned itself to install with the erecovery.
