Because you're religious and you would refuse to acknowledge the truth if it was put right in front of you.

This is a paradox question, there is no way of knowing unless you created two empty rooms, one with a fresh chicken egg and another with a chicken. All you do is wait and find out.

Obviously to get the egg the chicken had to have laid it.

Then again the chicken hatched from an egg.

It's only a mindforget if you discount evolution.

Genetic information from each parent is passed down from generation to generation, changing slightly upon conception. The DNA identity is sealed within the egg the moment it starts to form. The egg is then laid containing the most current genetic configuration. The 'current' chicken comes from the egg, so therefore, the egg came first.
