Author Topic: What should I name the Material or Group for Color-able Vehicle parts?  (Read 1043 times)

Note:  I am using Milkshape3D.
So yeah, I may sound like a noob, but this is my first time making a vehicle and I was wondering what I need to name the Material or Groups that are color-able on a Vehicle.

Also, for animations such as a helicopter blade spinning, do I need to name the joint that animates it or no?

The name of the joint does not matter for animation. To make a material colorable, name it blank for the color you want to paint it and black50 for the darker version of the color you painted it. For levels of darkness in between, choose black25 or black50.

Now, you need a collision mesh named collision-1 and nothing else. It must be convex. For the groups on the vehicle, I have not figured out the LOD's yet. But you CAN name them anything as long as the last character is a letter followed by 0. Now, the problem with this is your shadow will be the shape of your collision mesh. In order to fix this you have to toy around with the LOD's.

So wait, what if I want a separate color like dark gray (without painting)?  Normal materials?
What kind of wheel (jointed) assortment do I need for a helicopter-like vehicle?

Helicopters don't need wheels. Unless you want them to drive...

Yes

And

Does the collision mesh automatically need a material, or will it automatically make it invisible?

What modeling software?
