bands will change their style eventually, yet people complain about it.
sometimes they change their style of music over the course of a couple albums, or right away. people complain about it anyway. it happened with Green Day, it happened with The Offspring, it happened with Linkin Park, and it happened with blink-182. most other good bands change their style too, and people CONSTANTLY complain about how they dont like the 'new' band. I mean, why would a band stay the same the entire time they're out there? and hey, some of these bands could go back the way they were. it doesnt make sense for a band to stay the same the whole time, they want to try new things. but still, all people do is complain about it. ugh.

tl;dr people complain about bands changing style and they dont realize that they might not want to stay the same style the entire time, and want to try new things.

It's humanity. We complain and find flaws in everything. There's no erasing that fact.

it's more that we don't like change

this

and no, not just kids. my brother who's 20 stopped liking Green Day and Linkin Park since they changed. he moved onto metal because those were his two favourite bands.

one of the guitar teachers, Matt, at the place I used to get lessons at, told me he doesnt like Green Day anymore because they changed when me and my band were over there practicing.

and the list goes on and on

I stopped liking Cave In because they went from metalcore to college rock.

I stopped liking Cryptopsy because they went from technical death metal to forgettable deathcore with stuffty cupped mic vocals.

I stopped liking Slipknot because Corey Taylor allowed Slipknot to become Stone Sour, when the two bands were supposed to be completely separate entities. One for heavy, aggressive themes (Slipknot) and one for soft, passive themes (Stone Sour).

I stopped liking Norma Jean because they went from interesting, intense, very different post-hardcore to boring, typical, generic screamo.

I stopped liking Minus because they went from crazy noise metal to pretentious alternative rock with stuffty production values.

I have lost most interest in The Dillinger Escape Plan because they've gone from intense, interesting mathcore to long, boring techno interludes with breaks of mathcore that all sound the same and boring, generic slow songs.

It's not that I'm afraid of change, it's the fact that these bands used to be great and now they've shifted to appeal to a completely different audience/demographic.
I'm not going to keep listening to a band that has turned into something I dislike or even hate.

-snip-
I agree with that
but its just the fact that people rant about stuff when the bands arent even that different.

so your brother and your teacher are ranting about this? or did they just say it when it was relevant?

Matt said it when I was just playing around with the guitar testing the amp and stuff

my brother said it when he walked in a couple months ago to give me GTA IV and I was playing a Linkin Park song

and theres a bunch of random people here and there that say it too

well ofc when you're doing music stuff or listening to the bands people will think of it and say it :U not much to do about it

If Pink Floyd hadn't changed from psychadelic rock to progressive rock I probbly wouldn't have been a fan. :c

Never listened to any of these bands.
I'm so cool.
