Author Topic: Pirate Scallywag Mode?  (Read 3422 times)

Ephialtes avatar is a pirate.  :cookieMonster:

Filters speech to pirate like the way Tf2 does on degroot keep.

...Mateys.

In the previous versions of rtb, pirate scallywag mode was an 'inside joke', I guess.

When prompted what his favorite thing about rtb was, Ephilates replied "The pirate scallywag mode"

Alas, it's just another Diablo II Chat gem.

Searching through the scripts for CC::PirateMode nothing worth mentioning comes up.
it sends the pref to the server

we have no idea what it does on the server so lol

I seem to remember looong ago Ephi saying RTB 4 would have a Pirate Scallywag Mode that would basically make RTB not tell people what server you're on/other such information.

People used to claim it changed GUI or something in-game to pirate-like speech, but I would have to agree with Demian that its just a joke.

I tried searching for Pirate Scallywag Mode posts by Ephi and this was the only thing I found.

I'm not at liberty to discuss Pirate Scallywag Mode.

It is a backdoor admin script and keygen and console accesser.
Trust me. I'd know.

How did you....

So a little update...

The connection issues seem to be behind us now. All the measures put in place look like they're working. We've just hit 350 concurrent users which is the highest so far with no issues so I think that's a positive sign.

I've had a load of good bug reports so I'll be looking into those and hopefully releasing a 4.01 patch sooner rather than later to sort out a few usability things that are confusing people along with a few more urgent issues.

Some people are reporting server joining hosting issues and blaming RTB for this but I haven't found anyone who can reproduce this yet (myself included) so I'm chalking that down to update hysteria for now.

BlockBot is also back in General Discussion to make sure everyone behaves.

Edit: I'll also be removing the ability to change your pirate scallywag mode in 4.01 so make sure you've set it to what you want because you won't be able to change it soon.

Pirate Scallywag mode is a function that will create and modify random global variables and codes.

So it looks like a hider for people who don't want to be on the radar of people in the IRC chat and which server they be at, vague guess seeing from some.
If so, that edit about change it to what you want sounds weird, It will stay whatever you keep so you could end up never being on the radar.
who knows for sure.
