Author Topic: Asablief Perfect Military RP Concept.  (Read 2919 times)

I've seen plenty of Military RP's and I don't think any of them were really fun for me. They're all unorganized and messy, and the players just don't seem to cooperate. Assuming we live in a perfect world where all the players are up to the RP and follow the rules as if they are actually there, this would be the perfect Military RP IMO.

One large flaw I see is the state of the base.

How to NOT make a base:

A base should be functional and easy on the eyes. Not full of jeeps, guns and 1x1x5's.

Concept concerning a decent base:

Now this is a slightly better base. It's on a better map, and it's more decent and functional.
Note: This is just for looks. This was conjured in about 3 minutes to give you an idea. A good base should require a minimum of 1 hour to construct.

A base should include:
An armory
Barracks
Mess Hall (Food court)
Infirmary (Clinic)

And that's the bare minimum. You should probably throw in offices and towers along with it.

Rank Structure:

Every decent military force has a ranking structure.
The one way to NOT make a rank structure is through teams on a team deathmatch environment. It would be to use the avatar system / uniforms.
The current US ARMY rank structure is as follows:

Enlist:

Private - PVT
Private First Class - PFC
Specialist - SPC
Corporal - CPL
Sergeant - SGT
Staff Sergeant - SSG
Sergeant First Class - SFC
Master Sergeant - MSG
First Sergeant - 1SG
Sergeant Major - SGM
Command Sergeant Major - CSM
Sergeant Major of the Army - SMA

Officers:

Second Lieutenant - 2LT
First Lieutenant - 1LT
Captain - CPT
Major - MAJ
Lieutenant Colonel - LTC
Colonel - COL
Brigadier General - BG
Major General - MG
Lieutenant General - LTG
General - GEN
General of the Army - GA

Ranks as they would be in game, take note this does not match the real rank system due to complications:

Recruit

The recruit is a new arrival, to the server/base.

E-1 (PVT - SPC)

E-2 (CPL - SFC)

E-3(1SG - SMA)

E-4(2LT - 1LT)

E-5(CPT - MAJ)

E-6(LTC - COL)

E-7 (BG - MG)

E-8 (MG - GEN)

Commander (GA)

Controlling the Players, Activities.

Throughout the day troops should have a job / something to do. This would be delegated by the host. Use warfare sparingly, you don't want it becoming a TDM. Note that only E - 1 to E - 5's are ever really seen in combat. You don't see many generals / colonels fighting out there.

Make sure that players are following through on orders coming down the chain of command. If they are resistant then they should be removed from the base.

Since this is the military, units move / march together in "Formations". Example of a 2 man front formation:

2 Squad leaders in the front. (E - 2)
3 Men in each squad. (E - 1 and below.)
Usually a platoon sergeant / Platoon leader at the sides. (High E - 2 / E - 4)
First Sergeant / Company Commander Leading all platoons. (E - 3 / E - 5)

All commands come from the Commander down throughout the army.

Saw the first picture and went.. "What the hell is- 'How not to build a base' ...Oooohhh.."

As much as I appreciate directional threads, they have never managed to fix the problem. People will still make terrible army rp servers for one reason or another, so why don't you just go on ahead and make the "best" one?

because i can't host servers

it's not perfect.

you are thinking too much about purely uniforms and base appearance, but you need to address game mechanics like how the gamemode is placed around the map and how it can be challenging for the player to win.

I think it would be cool to have "Training" with target practice or an obstacle course

People already do this.

Already found a flaw; ranks.

23 ranks is that? Assuming you'll want at least 2 people per rank to make the ranks worthwhile, you'll need 46 players. And some military RPs have two bases for two teams to incorporate combat, so that is 96 players.

Why are people so focused on doing overkill with ranks. You don't need more than 5 or 6 at most. :/

This would be nice, but no one would EVERY behave correctly.
