WOW GUYS GREAT ADVICE!!!

there might actually be a section in hotkeys for your mouse, I know WoW can sometimes detect extra buttons

if that does nothing, update your drivers. what exact mouse are you using?

I thought you popped some letters off your keyboard and attached them to your mouse.

Updating drivers, messing with the settings and enabling the detect wow mouse didn't help so I restartet my PC and now everything works fine.

why do I feel like I've lost intelligence in the process?

what kind of mouse is it (brand name, company, etc.)
i use a Razer Naga, it integrates the keyboard Numbpad on the side of my mouse with little number buttons 1-12 (11 and 12 being + or - keys) and i bind those numbers just fine to games.

you can even switch it on the bottom of the mouse to use the number line instead.

I have 2 extra buttons and I can map them as mouse buttons 3 and 4 just fine (where 0 is LMB, 1 is RMB and 2 is MMB) without any extra work, just using any normal keybindings menu.
