Harrisburg is bankrupt, and it's already starting to effect my school.

As some of you may already know, Harrisburg went bankrupt a week or so ago.

We just found out today, that the superintendent met with all of the principles of the county yesterday, and told them that funding has been cut for all the schools of our district. That means that now, we will have to do fundraising for every little thing. For example, if the printer runs out of ink / breaks down, the principle can't call up the superintendent and ask for money. Our school has to pay for it ourselves. I'm in the school choir, and we are supposed to go to Kennywood in the Winter for a concert, but the principle told our teacher that he might have to cancel, due to the fact that we can't afford a bus for transportation, let alone uniforms.

And also apparently, next year if Harrisburg doesn't get out of bankruptcy, the extra teachers for instrumental teaching will get laid off, and lose their jobs.

And Christmas is canceled.

Luckily here in Iowa we have a wonderful amount of funding for our schools. My high school alone, in a town of 23,000 people, has 5 language classes.

I live in Alberta. My school gets very little funding as it is because the school board keeps taking money for their won use. All those forgettards.

My school would probably cut German (mostly because there's like 3 people in it) but the German teacher also teaches Grade 9 social. So it's not costing them anything.

forget, I drive by Harrisburg every other weekend, It looks as stuffty as usual.

Thing are good here in Pottstown. My school has enough funding for every band, chorus, and sport event, while other schools had to put restrictions or just plain cut the funding.
