Author Topic: Computer is borked, no idea how to fix.  (Read 1259 times)

A few minutes ago, I was playing The binding of Isaac before I went to school.  When I went to enter a new room the game freezes up and my computer randomly blue screens.  Now, I'm trying to start my computer and it comes up with an error message saying C:\Windows\Explorer is corrupt.  I know nothing about computers and don't know how to fix it.  Please help.

Doesn't sound like something you can fix without using windows recovery or re-installing Windows.
Explorer.exe is pretty much what forms the entire GUI for Windows, the taskbar, the start menu, the folders and your desktop icons, once it's corrupted or removed then you're pretty much screwed

once it's corrupted or removed then you're pretty much screwed

Not necessarily.

Which version of Windows are you using?

step 1. stop downloading badly pirated games from sources you don't know
step 2. stop downloading pirated games
step 3. reinstall windows and hope your backup is safe (unless your system doesn't have a back up drive in which case LOL sucks)

Delete the game and reinstall windows

Delete the game and reinstall windows
Re-installing Windows would delete the game.

>Computer failure
>Automatically means user is downloading pirated games

Anyway, I just found out that it wasn't a corrupted file.  My entire hard drive shorted out due to a power surge last night.  It's possible that I may have to replace the entire computer but we're not sure yet.

Just about most of piracy uploads are fakes or virus-loaded.

And usually if you download one of them, play a game, shut off the computer and turn it back on you'll see the end results of the virus.

Why would you do that due to a tiny HDD failure?
What a waste of computer. Just reformat and/or buy a new hard drive. They are like $60.

Reformat. That's really all you have to do.
