Found kitty on my porch.

This morning I woke up  to go to school and this kitty was on my porch meowing. It immediately  went up to me and started rubbing on my leg. I sat down and it jumped in my lap purring. I gave it some food but my mom won't  let me keep him/her. What do? :c
