I think a vegetable peeler works best for that

You should've printed out a picture of the face and put it over it, Then worked from there.

Yeah, I did that actually around the edges and around the eyes but it didn't look good so I just carved the whole thing.

Thats not too bad, I like it.

Though the Russian letter Д does have a straight down side as you carved in the pumpkin on the right of the symbol. But thats minor. Now do the rest. >:D Haha.
