he was talking about how some hot girl broke up with her boyfriend and now she's pretending to like him to get her ex to be jealous but he thinks she likes him and he wants to know when he should ask her out
and then he asked what we thought, and everything went downhill from there since the dumbass wasn't clear with what he meant by 'what we thought'
