Could it be???
Proper Shadows!!! omgwtf its about time phy!Thank god for Stratofortress!
Story:
I joined his server randomly, because it was the only thing that seemed interesting at the time.
He had happened to recently figure out how to make shadows work with a new jet he made and exported via milkshape.
Spilled me the details, I tried it, it worked, I refined it, and now you can expect a metric stuff-ton of updates soon too all of my vehicles.
Here is how I do it:
1. Make a vehicle in milkshape
2. Every mesh group must have a 32 at the end of the name
(ex: body32, antenna32, interior32, seat32, etc)3. Duplicate the vehicle's outer mesh groups, and end their names with 0. This is the mesh that will cast the shadow, so details on the inside should not be duped.
(ex. body0, antenna0)4. Dupe the same groups as above again, but this time end the names with 31. This mesh will be drawn by the game at a far distance, so its ok to remove more small details, such as door handles. This may seem like an unnecessary mesh group, but this wont work without it.
(ex. body31, antenna31)5. Create a simple convex collision mesh, and name it
collision-1 6. Export with
Torque DTS Plus. Double check the LOD of your groups. There should be a body with 32 LOD, a body with 0 LOD and a body with a 31 LOD
7. Spawn vehicle in Blockland.
