actually, time attacks period would be interesting. single player by definition, use the tools and weapons at your disposal to navigate a course as fast as humanly possible

So it's fine if I spawn a gun at the item part and use it later in the shooting part thus saving me the time it takes to grab the gun from the corner? I can hammer only the blocks I need to crouch through? I bet there are other things to do that save time as well.

It's a time attack, you do it as fast as possible.
Thus, what you say to do is a good way. Logic

but EVERYONE can do this. meaning it's fair.
