Why dont dogs like pillows?

My dog lays on the couch with his head hanging off the edge and his neck is bending really far.
so i put a pillow under his head to keep his neck straight
then he gets up and lays on another part of the couch the same exact way
its almost like he enjoys breaking his neck.
