It's the size of an aircraft carrier roughly.  It's hurtling at high speeds.  It would cause a major tsunami and also impact local ocean life heavily.

you aren't factoring in entry speed as well as friction (building up heat) and whatnot, an asteroid that size could still do a lot of damage.

Funfact for all you sky observers: You can quite clearly see Jupiter right near the moon. It won't look like anything more than a large star to the naked eye, but with a decent telescope, it should be a nice view.
