Author Topic: More video memory than I actually have?  (Read 465 times)

Unfortunately, dxdiag says (As well as other hardware & driver brown townysis programs) that I have a total of 2776 MB video memory on a single Video Card.

I own a Palit Sonic Nvidia GTX 460, who actually has 1 GB video memory.

No program seems to give me that value, all logging around 2-3 GB.

May someone please explain me what the forget is going on?

The box also says 1 GB.

Are you using a 32-bit OS with more than 4GB of ram?
Is PAE enabled?
Did you enable Gaming Mode on your drivers when you installed them?

The engineers who built it made a mistake with the video memory?

Are you running in SLI?

What is PAE?
What the hell?
I only own a single Video Card, as I mentioned.

I have no clue why it might be doing it, how much ram do you have?

4 GB DDR3.

Also, on the Palit website. There are..
Uh.

I am sure I own the Sonic Platinum edition.
Even if the manufacturers somehow misplaced it with a Sonic 2GB, the box clearly says 1GB, it came built in with the computer (the box was only given for drivers, proof of purchase and stuff like that) and they all look the same, not to mention dxdiag says 2776 MB, not 2048 MB.

It's utilizing some of your dedicated memory as it's own. It's quite common, especially with Intel cards.

I make sure mine just stick to their own 4GB so that I don't get any slow downs.

Which means that... it's good or bad?

Neither here nor there. I prefer to keep them separate but up to you.

Download RAM? A joke right? Since you can actually set virtual RAM in windows.
