Author Topic: What if Badspot started selling 5 dollar full game trial keys?  (Read 4101 times)

I recall a few games going for the full game trial method which works incredibly well for marketing. Blockland could sell a full week trial for 5 dollars which gives the person an adequate amount of time to decide if they will like Blockland or not. With a low price of 5 dollars why wouldn't they try it out?

The free demo is fine but it has a limited amount of bricks and no online support so it's kind of harder for the person to decide whether to get Blockland or not.

To people that don't know what trial is, it's basically a demo but with everything the full game provides for a limited time. It is not a monthly subscription method.

Maybe if it were for a month only

In a full month, the person could go through the entire cycle of joining, getting frustrated with how unforgiving the community is, and leaving. It'd have to be a week.

A week-long trial would be all right.

Yeah I think so too.

I still don't know how the key system works so this may not even be a possibility.

Maybe like what they do on Steam, Badspot supplies free full game demos on a random weekend before or after an update?

I'd choose maybe a five day trial. If they're happy with it, they can buy it for maybe 15$ instead of 20$

I bought the game the day I got the demo

It would only make sense. I would feel ripped off if I had to pay the full price if I already paid 5 bucks to test it.

It doesnt seem right to pay 5 dollars to test it. You should just get one week to test it, and if you still like it, buy it.

And what about the possibility that someone uses cheatengine or something to somehow still have the trial with full version after the week has passed? Just sayin'

I think the IDs should be "Trial" or something different than the current ID system as to not flood the game with IDs and whatnot

but only for the next month/week

no buying the trial and a year later getting 5 off

Knowing the kind of crap people sometimes get for being an #0k ID? Getting kicked from every other server would probably give a bad impression to the trial player.
