I prefer black because it is a more formal color, and black almost always looks nice.

On the upside, I have short, brown hair and I don't wear cigarettegy makeup.

You shouldn't be dressed formal for school. Unless you have uniforms or a strict dress code or something.

Just say that you like the color.

But also, wearing black doesn't make you emo or whatever.
It's more the style of the black clothes.

My school dress code is khakis, button down shirt and tie. Sportcoat is required also from October to late April.

Dress code. Black is one of the few colors we can wear. Collared polo shirts in blue, white, black or red. Some kind of shorts/pants in khaki, black or blue.
