I am so loving pissed at Apple right now

Okay, so my brother got an app called Zombieville USA 2, and it has Co-op mode in it. I really wanted to play this with him, as you could connect via Bluetooth. Now when I downloaded and played the app, there was no co-op mode. We were confused until we got the idea that it was because I didn't have the latest iOS version on my iPod. So I go to sync my iPod so I don't lose all my stuff when I update, and I see that instead of there being the "Update Now" button, there was a "Check for Updates button". I checked, and iTunes said I had the latest version of iOS. I have a 3rd generation iPod and my brother has a 4th generation one. So apparently, I have to buy a new iPod just to install the new version and play this app with my brother. This is complete bullstuff.
