You're comparing the lifespan of the typical version of Windows which is around 8 years at least bare minimum versus 3rd and 4th generation iPod Touch incompatibilities.

Literally, Windows XP support was phased out only last year. It came out in 2001.  That's 9 years.  Versus the 3rd/4th generation iPod Touch which both came out within one year of each other (September 2009/2010 respectively).

And apple makes it expensive to upgrade.

Microsoft is like "Ok! You have a computer so just install new software/hardware and its all updated!"

My guess is that your iPod might not have Bluetooth capabilities. Just a guess though, I dont know the specs of a 3rd gen iPod Touch.

I'm not talking about windows, I was "blaming" microsoft as a joke.  Apple can't allow these apps to run on old hardware because it would be much too slow, and people would complain because it's a closed system that cannot be upgraded to the new software's requirements.  Windows doesn't do this because it's a much more open system, microsoft has no control over the hardware.

This just happened to me.
