Cold opening with your birdy motorcycle mech things flying and Nana Mizuki singing and HOLY stuff DRAGONS. Some crazy angles going on here, fanservice lolololol. Also the birdy mech things transform into more humanoid forms that cover the otherwise exposed roosterpit from their flying motorcycle mode.
Various technobabble is thrown around and clearly Nana Mizuki's character, Ange, is some sort of weirdo because she's goddamn singing in combat and breaks off from the group and proceeds to take down a giant dragon by herself. She climbs out of her roosterpit to shoot it with a rifle WHILE HER MECH IS ALSO SHOOTING IT. WHAT. That still got me even though it was in the PV from earlier this year.

Cut to motorcycle space lacrosse (I can't make this stuff up) where long-haired Ange is apparently some sort of star player and she has a stupidly long name like Angelise Ikaruga Ginkei Radiant Silvergun R-Type Darius DoDonPachi (note: I may have forgotten part of her name and substituted something that sounds similar in turn). She saves a falling team mate and that costs her the game blah blah blah who the hell cares, apparently she's leaving for some coming-of-age thing that won't let her play space lacrosse anymore. Her older brother is everyone you hated from Code Geass and her little sister is Dio's little sister from Buddy Complex except her wheelchair floats.
So basically in this world you've got some bullstuff non-plot device called the Light of Mana that is apparently the evolution of humanity and people can use magic and stuff to make shields and use telekinesis and whatever. People that cancel out the effects of this magic are called "Norma" and are shunned from society to an extreme, you see this when the princess talks down to a mother trying to shield her Norma baby from the authorities (spoiler: baby is taken away blah blah blah who cares).
So at night where the princess and her mother have some crazy nightwear with gratuitous cleavage (I think I forgot to mention all the buttshots in the opening) and the princess is like OH MAN OUR MAGICAL SOCIETY IS SO PERFECT AND EQUAL WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT IF WE COULD EXTERMINATE (exact word used) THOSE SCUM OF THE EARTH NORMA TYPE PEOPLE IT WOULD BE EVEN BETTER and the mother doesn't say anything she just smiles and says YO YOU'RE A WOMAN NOW HAVE MY TOTALL BITCHIN' RING THAT'S A FAMILY HEIRLOOM
Then the next day at the coming of age ceremony the princess steps into some chamber thing I dunno what the hell that thing does but she breaks it because SURPRISE SHE'S A NORMA WHOAAAAA SO SHOCKING. Her mother tries to ferry her away and is killed in the process oh noooooooo emotional breakdown. Oh yeah that teammate she saved earlier was like YOU LIED TO US YOU SUCK wow what a scumbag and the mother she talked down to earlier is in a dark room watching it all on TV with this crazy expression like HA YOU HAD IT COMING
No longer a princess because she's the scum of the earth or some stuff the heroine is taken to Alcatraz or Azkaban or Nova Prospekt or something. They take all her stuff including her mother's bitchin' ring because apparently it hasn't sunk in that YOUR MOTHER IS DEAD AND IT'S THE FIRST EPISODE GET REKT. So you've got some glasses nurse that can use magical glowy hands but she's with some military chick who is also a Norma. So because our heroine is still in shock she's all I'M ROYALTY FUK OFF I'LL HOOK U IN THE GABBER m8 SWARE ON ME MUM and they're like LOL YOUR MUM'S DEAD WHY DON'T YOU USE YOUR MAGICAL GLOWY HANDS TO TAKE YOUR PRECIOUS RING BACK. Surprise, it doesn't work so Norma military chick literally kicks the stuff out of heroine and proceeds to (completely necessary) cut open her clothes with her sword and bend her over a table while nurse lady uses magical glowy stuff to restrain her.
Military chick goes YOU'RE NOT A PRINCESS ANYMORE, YOU ARE NOW ange HENCE THE TITLE
Also butt shot behind cover and then one last completely necessary but slightly censored scene of former princess' undergarments being torn off. Then implied sodomy because "it's a medical procedure" also rape symbolism.
Then it cuts to the ED with some lesbian harem thing where three chicks are naked in a bedroom for no reason SURPRISE ONE FINAL SHOT OF ANGE LYING DOWN WITH A BLOODY BLANKET AND TEARS STREAMING OUT OF HER BUG-EYED TERRIFIED EXPRESSION BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH RAPE SYMBOLISM then the rest of the ED and the episode preview.
