You stuck under the idea that all Anime HAS to be from Japan, clean and cut, but what if people from Japan, say moved to the UK, and they make a anime, would you still consider it anime? "Yeah since their from Japan I guess it counts". Now your back-paddling and it's not a clean slice anymore. Anime is not easily defined in the west. Simple as that.
