Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is fantastic and perfect in just about every way
Death Note, although it has a unsatisfying ending, is full of brilliant twists and turns, and is good if you enjoy supernatural and detective type of movies/animes

If you want gorey watch Claymore.

yeah i totally love hellsing, greatest anime/ova/manga ever.

I've attempted to watch the anime twice, only got halfway both times on episode one, might give it another shot. I did enjoy it, just got lazy lol

also Bec, try watching GANTZ. pretty gory and twisted, i'd recommend the manga instead of the anime though since it doesn't follow the original plot line
