can someone suggest me an anime where an american moves to japan or a japanese person moves to america, and has to learn english/japanese and get through loving girls from the different countries?

Never heard of an anime like that but the visual novel GO GO NIPPON has an american go to his friends in Japan and gets to learn a lot about Japan culture and such. Its only $14.95, a fine purchase if I do say so myself.

Turn A Gundam also has amazing hand-drawn animation, might want to take a look at that.

It's a good show. In my opinion it is way better than what Gundam has become today.

I have a gut feeling that they're completely different shows and, as such, shouldn't be compared in anything other than animation quality. Also, Turn A Gundam is pretty different from previous Gundam shows (and definitely superior to anything they put out today, even the awesome Unicorn).

Anywaaaaay, the designs in Votoms and the original Gundam were both done by Kunio Okawara, which explains why some of them look a lot like Zakus.
