No, KyoAni was too busy cashing in on other stuff. Despite Nichijou's popularity, it didn't sell well.

Gundam SEED Destiny was also the highest selling Gundam series for a while, so I'm going to assume that Japanese people have no taste.

This is evidenced by the fact that Mahouka is a top-selling light novel.

I just watched Steins;Gate, and it was awesome! I'm not an anime fan, but I will say that it was pretty hard to not watch the entire anime in 2 days.
