the soundtrack is loving awesome, but the same could be said about almost anything Hiroyuki Sawano composes.
I don't like the main character at all, he seems to show very little emotion.
He's a really nice change of pace from the standard worthless stuffbag of emotion modern mecha anime have produced. I'm pretty sure he's a jab at that.
It's nice to actually have someone competent on the cast because that moves the plot along well, and it makes the cliched "villain of the week" setup work pretty well.
