Dog Days hardly has any conflict and every character is abnormally nice for no apparent reason- yet I find myself strangely enthralled by the show. I don't understand.

You seem to like harems but based on those I'd recommend:

A Certain Scientific Railgun / A Certain Magical Index
The Legend of the Legendary Heroes
The Familiar of Zero

That show had one of my favorite dubs, and Ryner + Ferris make a great combo. It's too bad the story wasn't finished. Do tell if you have a similar recommendation.

Speaking of Black Bullet, I just watched Unbreakable Machine Doll which was basically the same thing; guy working with a powerful little girl. Wouldn't really recommend it but it was still better than Black Bullet.

100% this. I regret watching it as well. It's definitely high on my worst anime I've seen list. You think it has potential in the first or so episodes, but it never lives up to it. Only watch this if you want to see what anime shouldn't do.
