I'm currently watching yona of the dawn and Aldnoah.zero, so far yona of the dawn has been really good and has great blend of comedy

i've been staying away from yona because of the "shoujou" tag but i thought the synopsis was pretty cool

too bad i'm seriously behind on my stuff this season anyways, maybe a few weeks/months from now i'll marathon it

It has a little of that flavor, and to be honest, it's a fair reason to stay away, but if you get into the story, it would be best to continue watching, as at least on a personal level, it has been entertaining to see the story unfold.

Also ChexGuy is very liberal with his 10s.

Not really. The vast majority of them are movies (half of them Ghibli), which I usually rate differently.

out of the 40 manga & 39 anime i've read/watched and is on my google doc, i've only given one ten (SYD S1), the next best thing being parasyte at 9.5

of course, i rate my animus autistically comparatively, so it'd make sense for only one or two shows of genres to be 10.
