That's what it could do, the bill would give the copyright owners control over this stuff though.  Remember the whole Scrolls lawsuit?  Do you trust these people to decide what should be on the internet and what shouldn't be?

the companies don't get to decide what happens in a lawsuit, george washington. the courts do.

badspot can see posts before they were edited anyway

Oh, I hope that's not bannable.

This isn't about lawsuits.  The companies would be able to shut down connections to the sites, no lawsuits or anything.  I was simply giving an example of a ridiculous copyright lawsuit to demonstrate what could be shut down.

bahaha of course there's a process prior to getting a site blocked, they can't just block things on a whim because they claim it violates copyrights. theyd have to prove it.

now will you all PLEASE stop being alarmist handicaps.

wait don't we have some right to overthrow the government if it's stuff or am i stupid

well we probably could and would do it anyway.

Dumb old fat-cats wanting to get rid of the internet because their grand-kids don't send them cards anymore. If this law deletes this site, well, t'was nice knowing you, folks.

die already
What? Stereotypically, that's Texan behaviour.

This is just an excuse to take down wikileaks.

wait don't we have some right to overthrow the government if it's stuff or am i stupid

if its stupid then there will be multiple lawsuits by large companies filed against the government and the bill would eventually be declared unconstitutional.

We have the right to overthrow the government if they oppress us too much. They have to do more than take away our internet for us to overthrow them as the internet is a privilege, not a right.

forget it.
Get your pitchforks.

But if the internet is my life, then they are oppressing my life! :cookieMonster:

And thus, going against your natural right to life! Which is unconstitutional!
