FIRST AMENDMENT- Nothing in this Act shall be construed to impose a prior restraint on free speech or the press protected under the 1st Amendment to the Constitution.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people.

That'd be like saying, "OGM CAR CRASH KILLED 5 PEOPLE BAN CARS"
You're really dumb, I don't think I need to explain why.

You're a friend, I don't think I need to explain why.

Seriously though, with this they could shut down wikileaks.

They can't "take away torrents". A torrent is just another way of downloading a file.
They happen to be commonly used for piracy, but that doesn't make them wrong or illegal in any way.
They banned all use of torrents in NZ. $15000 fine if you use one.
What a serious misunderstanding of what torrents are and what a loving sham. Privacy breach anyone?

Maybe I do need to explain why.

Of course you wouldn't BAN cars, you would advocate proper use of them through training, etc. Which we DO! See: driver's ed, driver's licenses, etc
Now, we do the EXACT SAME THING with guns! They're not ILLEGAL, but you need a license to own one! It's still illegal to kill someone with a gun, just as it is to kill someone with a car, but you can be licensed to own and use one.

While that is unfortunate, I don't see people using torrents for anything but piracy. A law like that wouldn't bother me a ton, but it is very unfortunate.

I must apologize, I was not aware you needed a license to carry firearms.

Actually I don't think you do for all guns lol. you just have to be a certain age. but to carry a gun you do need a license.

Oh, I see.

Don't leave out the rest, please:

      (b) Severability- If any provision of this Act, or the application of the provision to any person or circumstance, is held to be unconstitutional, the other provisions or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

On that note, Fredulus, this section isn't implying that the bill doesn't contain objects that jeopardize the amendment, but simply that those specific portions can be overturned.  Key word: can -- as opposed to will.  The issue is the fact that several bills are already unconstitutional.  This isn't necessarily a bad thing, considering slavery was a tolerated right according to the constitution, but it's certainly not beneficial in this situation.

Most of the scare is promoted by corporations that will lose money due to this act.  Usually, I'd oppose this, but, being that the individual ccorporations already losing money are even worse than the ones that are primarily internet-based, I'd have to go with the lesser of the two evils.

I'm sorry, what corporations will lose money due to this act?

Is it legal to carry a concealed firearm, but with your license and permits on you?

im gonna go out on a limb here and say that if you have a concealed weapons permit you can have concealed weapons

That's pretty much the main use of it unfortunately.

I've seen some bad brown townogies but...
