Ever heard of prototypes? *cough* uneducated people disgruntle me.
Big Dog's name really means something, he will never have arms
Petman is used for testing military clothing, he doesn't need (and thus wont get) arms either

BigDog does great with slopes and rough terrain, being pushed and other stresses. That, and it's waterproof.

That being said, give ASIMO some armor and a club and set up a gladiator battle between it and 12 BigDogs.

FRONT FLIPS? WHY THE HELL NOT

FRONT FLIPS? WHY THE HELL NOT
the movements his legs made right after the first frontflip made me lose it twice
the second robot to do a frontflip too

I just briefly skimmed this, but it seems like ASIMO's actions aren't preprogrammed.

Just imagine, you're in the America-North Korea war of 2035, pinned down by heavy enemy fire. The humvee you are taking cover behind is holding, but communications are down and you can't radio for help. You see your friend peek around the side of the truck and get a new little hole in his head. Suddenly, you hear the sound of footsteps rapidly approaching. You think it's the Koreans and wait for the end to come.
BUT NOW IS NOT YOUR TIME. It's not the Koreans, but a squad of giant upside-down salad bowls with mounted machine guns running in a V formation down the street towards the enemy. One of the bots jumps up onto the top of the humvee and does a frontflip into the air off of it, kicking a Korean commando in the face as it comes down. Then the tuna can on a pogo stick shows up and the enemy confusion is total.

Japanese robot: White and sleek with simplistic look
AMERICAN robot: Exposed wires everywhere and it does push-ups.

They're prototypes, this is how ASIMO developed. [Am I the only one reminded of Chibi Robo's Giga Robo after looking at that picture?]
Give Boston Dynamics a few years and they'd come up with a really cool looking one.

Also, these prototypes and models still exist, I want to see HONDA all program them to fight eachother to the death.

It'll probably still look much less sterile and white.
