They've always been called towers. At least, the kind I have.

I forget what the cases that are designed to set the monitor on top of them, but that's not what I've got. So, yeah. Correct terminology there. Sorry.

I mean, I could say I was cleaning my "computer" (meaning CPU, GPU, HDD, Processor, etc) but I wasn't. I was cleaning the inside of the tower. You'll also notice I refer to the different parts I begin cleaning as well, such as the processor and the power supply.

Why does it matter that I call my tower a tower? It's the thing that holds the hardware needed for me to do computations. It's just as much a part of the computer as anything else.
