Author Topic: Looking for a car  (Read 2972 times)

I'm looking at getting a car and I am having a tough decision. I know this probably isn't the best place to ask for opinions but as of now it's the only place I can think of. I'm trying to decide between a Mazda RX-8, a Chrysler Crossfire, and a Pontiac Solstice. There all about the same price (at least the ones I'm looking at) so I really don't have a preference at this point. Not trying to offend anyone but few of you probably know what I'm talking about, but even looking up a picture of them and saying which one you think looks best would help me out a little. And if you do happen to know what I'm talking about, well then even better.

buy the non american one.
you want to at least hit 100k miles before a minor repair

I assume your talking about the Mazda and yes, all of them have fairly low milage so I should hopefully not have to repair any of them anytime soon

i meant that german and japanese cars tend to have a much longer lifetime. not just till they need their first minor repairs, but overall as well.
american cars are notorious for falling apart quicker.

it depends on how new all these cars are, and how long you will drive them till you trade in

But my Ford ranger is still running good at 200k miles and only one repair was the clutch.

Foreign cars break extremely easy, but they never stop working. My moms old Honda had so much stuff wrong with it and she was still able to drive it around.

Theyre like The Little Engine That Could only imagine if he was made out of tinfoil

True I saw a 2011 Toyota engine broke and got on fire.

True, but in my opinion Chrysler and Pontiac are very reliable, but yes foreign cars are usually put together better. They are all 2007 or newer, and I'm thinking about keeping it for 4-6 years.

I have an 06 pontiac grand prix, 82k miles and so far so good except the gas mileage went down a crapload, only choice I have now is changing the fuel filter which is INSIDE the FUEL PUMP. and those are expensive. Oh, and the cheap paint on the radio is chipping off too. Had to replace the tie rods too because GM was too dumb to put grease fittings in there. but still, great car.

I'd recommend a bigger car, most small cars aren't that great in crashes.

This why I love Ford nothing really goes bad in it and a rangers are smallest trucks in Ford inc.

Yes bigger cars are safer, but I think we can all agree that better looking cars are all on the smaller side, and also where I live isn't exactly what I would call busy, but yes safety is important.

Its just good driving skill will do good for me(I only got 1 red light ticket....) Dumb red light cameras.

lol, asking this on blockland forums is dumb, the mazda would definitely be the best choice, the only problem would be the rotary in it, it has no low end torque what so ever, and if you forget up the apex seals, you're forgeted.
if you really want a nice looking reliable car, I'd say get a Honda, any kind of Honda really, they're p reliable, I think the S2000 might suit you well.
and the crap about bigger cars being safer, that's bullstuff.
just pure bullstuff.

None TBH.
RX8 is a stuffty rotary engine, it'll blow if you so much as accelerate.
Both the American cars look like they have melted, the engine would be hungry, loud but have not much power, and they don't know how to go around corners (no corners in America).

If you had to get any of those, I'd say the RX8 but I wouldn't get an RX8 personally.

Look at this.
If you tune that RB26DETT engine up, it can produce 1200 or so horsepower.

Ethan he clearly didn't give a forget about power, skylines are stuff expensive and hard as forget to get in the US too.

also if he actually managed to make that much power on it, it wouldn't last for more than a year.
