SOPA. The most loving stupidest loving proposed law ever.

Quote
The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), also known as H.R.3261, was introduced in the United States House of Representatives on October 26, 2011 by Representative Lamar Smith [R-TX] and a bipartisan group of 12 initial co-sponsors. The aim of the bill is to help U.S. law enforcement and copyright holders fight online transmission of restricted intellectual property. Introduced by the House Judiciary Committee as building on similar legislation, the PRO-IP Act of 2008 and the Senate's Protect IP Act of 2011, this bill "modernizes [United States] criminal and civil statutes to meet new IP enforcement challenges and protect American jobs.

This, to me, is unhuman, heres the forgeter that started this:

firstly, this is literally the fifth or sixth topic we've had on this subject, you're ridiculously late.

secondly,

Basically, it will shutdown pirating websites, such as The Pirate Bay (torrent website)

enjoy your ban. ignore this, apparently I'm an idiot.

enjoy your ban.

torrents aren't illegal, genius

saying the word piracy doesn't get you banned either

torrents aren't illegal, genius

last time I checked, every torrent on TPB is illegal. I know torrents aren't illegal, but it seems to me that every one of them on TPB is.

You're an idiot and he was just giving an example

You don't have to pirate something if you go there, nor did he ever admit to pirating or give a direct link.

If you think your logic is correct, then you're also getting banned because you said the words

ok, sorry, just seemed to me that he was only pointing out one action of the bill in particular, and an insignificant one at that.

Man, you must have some sort of mental disorder.
There's a reason it's called "The PIRATE Bay," right?

yay unnecessary insults!

that's why I said, "seems to me that everyone on TPB is."

Perhaps you wouldn't be bashed if you didnt go around saying "loel dood u gun get baned!!1" maybe?

I sort of agree with Kyzor :s

He's saying it's stupid for them to shut down pirating websites, which is basically him saying pirating is good. Wouldn't be surprised if he got banned, no need to jump on Kyzor for it on the way you are.

exactly. OP is only pointing out one thing that the bill does, while there are so many other, much more negative effects that it will have. sure I overreacted a bit, my bad, but sites like TPB being taken down are the least of my concerns.

besides, not only do we not know much of anything about the bill's current status, but it also most likely won't pass.

Because piracy is getting bigger

Oh no! soon you won't be able to steal peoples intellectual property! That would be...

...actually pretty cool. I hate piracy.
