By our own botanical definitions tomatoes are fruits. That's really all there is to it.

They have seeds. They're fruit.

Plus I don't think vegetables grow on vines

If I was deciding based on taste and texture (which I would at a younger age) I would probably think it is a vegetable.


It's scientificaly a fruit.

Some people just assume it's a vegitable for how it's used.

The classification is based on how they grow and where the seeds are and how they're spread.

It's definitely a starch.
