Someone just shot our dog. (DRIVE BY PET SHOOTING)

So I was on the computer when we hear a gunshot (I didn't but my dad did.) 15 minutes later my mom started to leave to go town when she came back in saying that our dog is dead in the driveway. I guess he tried to crawl back to the house but didn't make it. Someone shot him. Then my dad said he heard a truck drive off right after the gunshot so they must have shot him. My dad then called the sheriff and he came to our house and told the sheriff about it.

Stupid people, why would someone do something like this? Our dog would chase cars so I guess someone had enough of it and shot him in front of our house. We still don't know who did it. We still don't know where to bury him. We are sad now.

I always found it kind of weird when people let their dogs run around alone outside doing whatever they want, there used to be like 4 dogs like that where I used to live. It's illegal and even if it wasn't I would never ever leave my dog alone near anywhere cars go.

To clear some things up, I live out in the country. Our dogs don't go off our land much, but he does like to chase cars so he would wait by the road.
