Need help with rational functions

[The Corporation]

yeah, I've been having some problems with stuff like this-
x²-2x-3
   x+1


Divided by
x²+x-12
    x²-1


Basically, I have to simplify the above rational equation
After a while, I get this-

x⁴-2x³-4x²+2x+3
(x+1)(x²+x-12)

And that's where I get stuck.
