Author Topic: Anti-Aliasing: How important/noticeable is it to you in games?  (Read 3017 times)

It blends the pixels to make everything seem smoother.

I can't play Blockland or Minecraft without a great amount of AA.  Minecraft gets about 4x, Blockland goes 16xQ.

I use whatever I can, if I'm lagging it's the first thing to go.

"I don't like his opinion, everyone ignore it."
well in his defence, taboo was saying everybody who cared about it needed help..:/

Seeing how the rating is for how important AND noticeable it is, I'll rate 5/10. It is easily noticeable, but I don't find it important.

But hey if your computer can handle it why the hell not use it?

it's a good thing i already know to take nothing you say seriously.

In all seriousness, that is an awful computer. AA does make some games look rather nice and just because you're used to playing on stuff graphics doesn't mean they're better

AA makes quake look like a smooth minecraft, I hate it because I rather have that gritty feel to it.

I generally have my anti-aliasing at 32x, mostly because it looks great on Blockland. (save that it makes weird red lines on gui)

edit:

But if I don't have it on, it's not a big deal. It just looks a lot nicer in most cases.

When I use it on gmod, I can actually look at the RT screens, at the sacrifice of about 1.5 fps. 8x is good enough for me.

I'm pretty sure he mostly meant people who absolutely need it.

32x? Where do you set that?
Last I checked AMD drivers let you go up to 24x and that was it. Not sure about nVidia.

I'll put it on if it doesn't ruin performance.

I honestly don't give a stuff about it. I'll put it on a setting that makes the edges sharper but doesn't cause stuttering, which is a bit high because I have a good rig. I could play with it off, though.
