Wednesday Monstercat release: [DnB] Muzzy - Paperchase

oh look

muzzy hasn't changed a bit.

disliked, this is disappointment #5.

y'know how some people say deadmau5' songs all sound the same, and how that's not true at all?

muzzy's songs do actually all sound the same.

I mean for forget's sake, he even uses the same loving drums.

-10 respect for muzzy

sounds sorta like drumstep to me, but i like it :o

I would probably like it a lot more if it didn't sound identical to almost every other song he's made.

i had a feeling you wouldn't like it for some reason :U

Well it's his style to make that urban-y-dirty dnb/drumstep and he does a damn good job of it too. I loved the song and I think Muzzy should continue that style of dnb/drumstep. For my tastes in music, it is how the music feels, not sounds...and this makes me feel so pumped up and wanting to play soccer in an abandoned warehouse with my friends for some odd reason lol

well I tend to not like drum & bass very much in the first place because it's just a little too fast-paced for me, the same reason why I don't like hardstyle/hard dance/hardcore/speedcore/whatevertheforgetcore

I understand it's his style but you can make "urban-y-dirty dnb/drumstep" without using the same goddamn synths/drums/buildups in every single song.

i think there's a genre called corecore

i should try and make that

listening to the song again, his snares are lacking a little. they need to be more like tristam's snares, more "air-y" and pressurized.

I understand the repetition gets annoying, but I think they do the perfect job of creating that atmosphere. And repetition is so common in electronic music everywhere, you can't bash on him just for the sake of that. Insan3Lik3 uses the high pitched voices in a lot of his songs, Rogue uses that same "AEYHH" voice in a lot of his songs, Deadmau5 uses the same kicks in some of his songs (I'm not really sure if this is confirmed it just seems like it), etc etc.

But yes I do understand repetition is not compelling to the ears all the time, it is common in ALL EDM artists and you shouldn't completely bash just Muzzy for it.

especially insan3lik3

:P

Yus but we <3 him too much to care :D

nonono see, there are two types of repetition when it comes to electronic dance music; one is good, the other is not necessarily good:

1. the repetition heard in every single EDM song ever, which could be the repeating of note patterns, drum patterns, buildup patterns, chorus/drop patterns, synth patterns, mix patterns, etc. this is confined to a single song.

2. the repetition that occurs when an artist uses the exact same aforementioned samples and patterns in every single song they make.

muzzy does WAY too much of #2. I'm not saying his music is bad, because it isn't, it's pretty good. I'm not saying he's a bad producer, because he isn't, he's good. all I'm saying is that he needs to mix things up a bit, use different samples, mess around with some new patterns, create some new synths, and god forbid he tries a different genre.

You have a good point, but it seemed like you bashed on him a little too harsh with that post :P

All is good now though, thanks for informing me more on the wonderful world of EDM
